The Sexual Assault Response Coordinator (SARC) and Victim Advocate (VA) Career Course is for individuals who are filling fulltime SARC and VA positions. The SARC and VA have the responsibility of providing SHARP services to their commands in accordance with National Defense Authorization Act 2012, Department of Defense (DOD) and Army guidance.

What is the purpose of the Army sharp program?

SHARP is a proactive U.S. Army program which aims to end sexual harassment and assault in the service. It has full-time staff at the brigade level and higher, and maintains a social media presence on Twitter and Facebook.

What is Army sharp training?

As the Army's Training and Leader Development proponent for SHARP, the Army SHARP Academy (ASA) educates and trains Sexual Assault Response Coordinators (SARCs), Victim Advocates (VAs), SHARP Trainers , and Program Managers; and is responsible for Army wide SHARP Education, Training, and Leader Development.

Is sharp training effective?

While the SHARP program is effective in educating soldiers that the problems of sexual violence exist, the key finding is that it does not target the societal and gendered norms that have existed in the Army that perpetuate a culture which is conducive to harassment and assault.

SHARP Annual Unit Refresher Training The Army's Sexual Harassment/Assault Response and Prevention (SHARP) program exists so the Army can prevent sexual harassment and sexual assaults before they occur.

SHARP Education And Training

The SHARP SARC/VA Career Course provides instruction that prepares full-time military and Army Civilian SARCs and VAs for their roles and responsibilities at the brigade level and higher. The minimum grade requirements for Soldiers to serve as a SARC are SFC, CW3, MAJ or GS-11 if a civilian.
