1. Supersets. Supersets are easily one of the oldest high-intensity training techniques. Supersets were invented as a way to prolong the time under tension on a muscle and thus make it work harder.
2. Tri-sets. As the name suggests, “tri”-sets involve performing three exercises back-to-back for the same body part with only 10 seconds rest in between sets.
3. Giant Sets. Giant sets are easily one of the most extreme bodybuilding training methods that you can use in the gym. Unlike a superset or a tri-set, a giant set involves performing at least 4 exercises back-to-back for the same body part with only ten seconds rest in between sets.
4. Drop Sets. Drop sets are easily one of the oldest hypertrophy training methods. After all, what could be more natural than performing a set to failure, then stripping some weight off and continuing to bust out more reps?
5. Mechanical Advantage Drop Sets. Mechanical advantage drop sets are one of my absolute favourite bodybuilding training methods for packing on slabs of muscle in record time.
6. Rest-Pause Sets. Rest-pause sets are an unbelievably effective way to train for size. They were invented by Dante Trudel in the mid-1990s although they really grew in popularity in the early 2000s when Dante posted his training ideas online.
7. Forced Reps. Forced reps were a hypertrophy training method popularized by the 6 x Mr. Olympia winner Dorian Yates. He used forced reps for literally every body part as a way to build his super-human physique.
8. Partial Reps. Partial repetitions are an extremely under-rated hypertrophy training technique. They have been used successfully by bodybuilders for a very long time although it is rare to see them being used properly in today’s modern era.
9. Isometric Training. And now for something completely different! Isometric training is an extremely powerful training method that you can use to spur on additional muscle growth.
10. Eccentric Training. And now we’re getting to the really good stuff: eccentric training! Eccentric training is probably the single best training method for boosting hypertrophy and strength in intermediate to advanced trainees.

1. Stick to Free Weights. Even though the modern gyms are full of complex, high-tech machines, they will not help you build a solid foundation of muscle mass.
2. Do Compound Lifts and Movements. While you might be tempted to try all the possible exercises you see on fitness magazines or websites with heavy weights, you should stick to the basic movements first as one of your first bodybuilding tips.
3. Find a Program, and Stick to It. In order to be successful with bodybuilding, you need to have a strict routine and follow it closely. Ask a personal trainer or an advanced bodybuilder to provide you with a program that includes the exact exercises you need to do, the number of sets, and the number of reps per set.
4. Don’t Train Every Day. If the person that made you the program knows what s/he’s doing, your routine should have 3 or 4 workouts per week. As a beginner, you don’t need to train more often than that.
5. Train Each Muscle Group Every Week. While too many days in the gym won’t help you get bigger, too few workouts are not good either. You need to work each muscle group at least once each week to really see effects.
6. Learn Correct Form. While you may be tempted to see how much you can lift, you need to start with lower weights and learn the right form of each exercise.
7. Gradually Increase the Weight. After you master the correct form of each exercise, you need to start adding heavier weights periodically. Keep track of how much you lift on each exercise, and slightly increase the weight about every two weeks.
8. Be Cautious. When you get to the point of using big weights, use a safety belt for lower back protection. You may not have back problems right now, but you don’t want to have them in the future either.
9. Eat a Lot of Protein. Protein is essential when it comes to building muscle. It can be found in good quantities in chicken, fish, eggs, milk, beans, nuts, and some vegetables.
10. Be in a Caloric Surplus. This is one of those bodybuilding tips that most people don’t understand at first. In order to build muscle, you need to eat more calories than you burn.

6. Flexibility training develops flexibility. Essential training for all athletes in all sports and activities. Time is measured by the length of hold and the recovery period between holds.
7. Circuit training. This develops muscular endurance, strength and/or cardiovascular fitness. An interval form of training. Stations are set out that train one or more components of fitness.
8. Exercise classes such as yoga, pilates, body pump and spinning. Very popular exercise formats. Yoga, body pump and pilates are outstanding for developing core strength and whole body conditioning.
